IS BY LAHB Park Board Discovers Pig in Fence in Discussing Pro posed Boulevard System. At yesterday's meeting of tho City park board, Isadora Lang, Ion Lewis and Dr Dav Raffety were appointed a committee to determine what recom mendations the park board shall mako to the city council In regard to tho parking system to be provided by the $1,000,000 bond fund, and after a dis cussion by the members of the board It Is probable that one of the recommen dations will be boulevards on both sides of the Willamette river a near to the river banks as possible. Immediate action Is deemed neces sary by the board because of the In creasing cost of land. Members of the board visited a site In Hcllwood last Saturday and found that the land which Is desired for a part of the parking sys tem sold for 1X5,000 that morning. The same condition Is true In regard to the rest of the land about the city and tho board Is anxious to commence work as soon as possible. The advisability of calling the Olm sted brothers to Portland to secure their advice In the matter was discussed but was put asldo oeeause of the delay which wosld ensue and the committee was appointed Instead. Mr I-ang sprung a sensation at yes terday's meeting when he stated that he had heard a remark attributed to a certain counellman lo the effect that unless the park bourd secured the par ticular piece of land which he wanted v.. ,.,.,!, l rto all he could to block the mrv hoard In the council. Tho council man's name was not mentioned but the board felt that if such action was to be taken by members of the council the board had better surrender the prob lem to the councilmen at once. Pnrkkeeoer Mische recommendel the i.sio nurehase of HO acres !mmaite . purchase or lu acres on Mount Tabor for a part of the new park system but the board was opposed to inch action because it has been est I- M s v . onnnn hepAU mated that the land would cost $500,000 and they did not believe It wise to spend so much money on one proposition. It is expected that the committee ap pointed yesterday will hold meetings so as to be able to report to the council at Its next meeting, three weeks from today.
