Wash., Aug. 22 Tlie beach season on the Wash ington coast has reached Its crowning point. ThouBands are Bcattered among the different re sorts and every hotel and cottage is en Joying Its banner week. This Is the time when the busy merchant gets off for a few days and takes the Potter to Join his family at. North Beach, when the cottages entertain their guests, and when the hotels put down cots In the hall. The event of the week has been the tennis tournament at the Breakers and the festivities which have gone with It. Tennis Tournament. The first annual tennis tournament which has Just been completed at the Breakers has been a success from every point of view. Tho players have enjoyed a week of the finest kind of outing and some very close and exciting matches have been played. The tournament has been well attended and some of the best players on the coast have been matched ii gainst each other. i he went tier lias been first rate and the new courts have turned nut to he remarkably gnoi. The Breakers tournament has been ruthorlzed by tho National Lawn Tennis association and will be an annual affair. Coming In the heart of the season as it has this year the tournament was the event around which many social activi ties grouped. The cup offered by the Breakers hotel goes to the winner of the mens singles. Cost tuns Ball.
