An unusually dense fog hung over the entrance to Columbia river all of yes terday and no shipping passed In until late In the evening. The French bark Thiers hs on the way to Portland in ballast from Belfast, Ireland. The Thiers is wen known here, as Is also her master. Captain Quatreveaux. She was here last fall and took a carta of wheat to Europe. The vessel sailed under the British flag up till a few years ago when she was Dartlv wrecked nnd sold. Potter carried a large number of passengers for the beaches yesterday afternoon. It was the largest crowd to leave this season.
