Fred Fraley, bad boy, who vanished from Portland some time ago with $fl)0 that his aunt had carefully saved for him, and returned after he had "blown in" the coin, was lodged in the county Sail' this 'morning bv Probation Officer Krum, who Is looking after the work of the juvenile court while Chief Pu liation Officer Hadley Is on vacation. jTred was arrested on a warrant -charging him with incorrigibility, the com plaint having been made by his aunt. " Fred is about 14 years of age and an orphan. For ft long time he has lived with his aunt, who has had a hard struggle supporting herself, the boy and the boy's grandmother. The aunt is separated from her husband, but Is not divorced, and he lives next door. Lately the boy has been staying with his uncla, and it is charged that he keeps matters . stirred up and annoys the aunt, who Is new neipiessty sick. The officers found a good job for him, but he worfced only two nays. ' ,The lad will apepar before Judge Gan tenbeln in the Juvenile court tomorrow, when a decision will be reached as to What should be done with him. When he left the city about two months ago be went to San Francisco, but came back when the money gave out. He had rarned the money, which his aunt saved for him and put In a trunk. AGED WIDOW GETS 35,000 ESTATE Mrs. Virginia McDaniel Re ceives All of Husband's Property. Mrs. Virginia A. McDaniel, 80 years of age, becomes the sole heir to the $36,- 000 estate of her late husband, Joslah, McDaniel, under the will filed today. There are four sons and one daughter surviving, ranging in age from 40 to f.O years, and their father explains in his will that he has kept them all In mind, as well as three grandchildren, but is confident that his wife will deal Justly with all of them. McDaniel died on July 6, leaving real estate valued at $9,000 in Multnomah, Clackamas and Polk counties, and about $26,000 worth of personal property. 1 he widow and W. H. Fulkcrson are named to look after the estate. The children are Andrew J. McDaniel of Kock Cnek, Willis H. McDaniel of Dallas, and Han nah E.: Newton M. and Lee H. McDan iel of Portland. CANADIAN ROAD AFTER C0LU1IA1TRAEFIC C. E. E. TJssher of Winnipeg, assist ant traffic manager of the Canadian Pa cific, is a Portland visitor today. He is making a tour of inspection of ter ritory occupied by traffic, agents of his company. "The Pacific northwest is looking fine as to crops and business oondl tlons." he said. The Canadian Paclfio and the Union Pacific railroads are working in har mony to handle the products and travel of the region tapped by the Columbia river. For some time the Canadian Pa clfio has been striving to effect ar rangements by which it could operate trains Into Portland over the O. R. A N. line from Spokane, but no definite arrangements have as yet resulted, and the Canadian road is only running train sen-Ice into the United States as far as Spokane.
