' A truly fabulous find of placer gold lias been unearthed at the base of the . mountains In the forest reserve in Idaho county, Idaho, directly east of Wallowa county. Or., and but a short distance from this state's line. To secure this treasure a company was recently Incor porated ; with Hon. John B. Cleland, judge in department No,' 8, state circuit court, at its head, and associated with his as officers and directors of the or ganization are George la. Peaslee of the Peasely Bros, company, owners of one - of Portland's large lob printing estab lishments, vice-president; Richard C Hart, superintendent, of United States lighthouses for this district, secretary and treasurer: H. B. Perks, a mining engineer of international reputation, en gineer In charge and manager at the mines, and W. A. Cleland, brother to Judge Cleland, W. W. Peaselee, also of the Peaslee Broa company, and Captain J. F. Boone, a retired' river steamboat oaptaln, directors. H. S. Har court, the well known newspaper man, '., Is ' In charge of the company's office affairs, end these gentlemen are associating . wiUt them as stockholders persons In all parts of not only Portland and the j'aoino normwest, out as xar east as the New England states. In the great bonanza they have , acquired. Among these stockholders are found a large number or placer . miners, many . o: whom have known of ths existence o: ; the wonderful treasure bed for years. but were not able to work it for the reason that it reoulred S30.000 at the start to procure machinery and piping with which to' equip the property. The . first move of the company was to. have ' Mr. ferKs engage a corps or miners and. thoroughly- explore and test i the ground, wtiicn covers &u acres, ana, with its arms, Is 10 miles In length. This was attended to during the months of October and November, 1907, and so rich was the tract that the matter was kept secret until all legal interests had : been attended te, which was carefully none oy.tne two atrorneys in ins com- fany. - When all was ready for the aunching of the enterprise, apartment 120 Commercial club building, this city, was secured, and an Issue of 120, 000 shares of treasury stock was put upon me maraei ai ZD cents per snare, Its oar value bains: 60 cents tier share. This has been largely subscribed by rel atives and friends of the Incorporators, end it is expected will all be taken very uiceiy mis month, or at Dest before trie end' of July. Mr. Perks had a small force of men working all winter on the company's ditches, and now has 12 mi ners and laborers employed installing ,a sawmill and preparing for the reoep tlon of more than 80,000 pounds of oth- . r material en route. , tso soon aa all is landed on the ground a larger force will .be set at work, and by August 16, or - not later than September 1 It la-ex-, pected to have the company's giants at work,- and by. December 1, the company is confident It will return to each stock holder the entire amount of his invest iment, and for the next 25 vears pay 'dividends of from tOO to 400 per cent on ii ouuutnaing stocs. This is the pre diction of the men behind the proposi tion. Snd thofie who mnat Infimaalv know them will at once agree that they 'yi ny oi in em aaaictaa to vision ary Illusions. ; . i . A question often and reasonably asked by many persons who for ths first time . rr"1 .f this wonderful channel bed of gold, is how that It has lain Idle and nShSd lop hftlf century when more w,u ,iVU,uuv,VUg were mined rrom the fuich,'".rBip?m wto'tt between J 160 and IMS.
