" University of Oregon, Eugene, Juno V- The -,-falluro of the referendum to carry was celebrated here Wednesday night by one of the. greatest rallies In the history 'of the University of - Ore gon. , Fully 8,000 students and towns people were gathered on Klncald field and enthusiasm reigned supreme. Before the rally about 100 university boys gathered at the dormitory and with yells and songs marched through the . ... town, headed by two automobiles carry Jng President Campbell and others. He is a graduate of the state arade school or Walworth, the ttieti schjDol at Prairie du 6ac and tbe state Prof, George N. Campbell, Superintendent-Elect of Schools afCastle- rock,- Washington. - . " ' f normal school at Whitewater, and has taken special courses ' in science and mathematics at the Wisconsin , state university. Durinr his senior vear at Whitewa ter normal he tilled the position of city superintendent Tof . schools at Mineral Point for four months, during' an ill ness of the regular superintendent. He was principal of the state grade school at Delevan--for. three years and of the Waterford High school for two years. Last year he rama to Washington and during the past school year has held tne position or principal oi me nign school at Oaksdala, in Whitman county. Mr. Campbell la rated as an excep tionally capable .and successful in structor and superintendent and it is expected that Castierock publio schools will have an unusually prosperous year under Ills management.
