Benson Logging Company Will Soon , Send Log "Rait to Sea,, i the Benson Logging company has chartered the tug Dauntless of 8ao Francisco, to tow Its log rafts from Stella, on the Columbia, to rlan Diego this summer. The first raft will be sent .to sea. about the first of June. Ths company has three rafts ready to be towed away and has another half completed. Possibly a fifth raft will be constructed and sent south this summer, although the lntenUon at first was to send only 'our. - - Ths rafts contain 4,000,000 feet Of logs sach. W. of A. hall, and at the county courthouse. There will be band con certs, a street parade, and refresh ments Interspersed with the sessions. The convention will open with an in formal reception Friday evening at Woodmen hall, where J. S. Van Winkle will give an address of welcome, and William H. Boyd, first vice-president of th association, will respond. Pro fessor Kendall will contribute a read ing, and there will be quartet music. - The regular sessions will open Satur day morning. Tom Richardson, man ager of the Portland Commercial club, will give an address on "Organization." Bury I. Dasent, manager of the Al bany Commercial club, will talk on a selected topto. An address on financ ing the association will be given by Alfred C. Schmidt, state president of the Y. M. C. A.
