The streets are Fifteenth from Salmon to Jefferson and Main from Chapman to Fourteenth. These streets are now closed to the public by the Kamm tract and their oneninr means added street facilities to a large population lying south and west of the tract. Kamm has opposed the opening of the streets for years and has always been successful, but It is believed that the council will now take docisiv action. Other tracts of similar nature will also be opened up In various parts of the city. . Tomorrow and Monday will positively be the last days for discount on east side gas bills. Portland Gas Company. J. P. O'Brien, general manager of th O. R. A N. Co., returned this morn ing from an extended tour of th lines In Idaho and Oregon. In each oasa provision had to be made for a new polling place In buildings near the site of the demolished tents. The greatest difficulty was experi enced at Bast Fifteenth and Multnomah streets. Her there was no building that seemed available, and efforts were made to put the tent back In position. So strong was the wind that the at tempt rinauy was abandoned and th county clerk directed the election board to secure some new bouse in that sec tion as a plaoe for voting.
