The Marquis of Townshend's suit to remove Arthur Goeffrey Robins and John Abercromble as trustees of a deed of settlement of the Townshend estates made in 1903. and under which a number of heirlooms were disposed of, has come to an end after a protracted and generally tedious hearing. The marquis has declared that he was for a long period under the hypnotic Influence of Robins. The marquis is small and weak looking, and a year ago hla wife sought to have him put under restraint as meniany un sound. At the conclusion of . the case the iudge, when ordering Robin's removal from the trusteeship, paid a compli ment to the marquis as to the way he had given evidence, it is surmised mat the marquis' health haa Improved since tne lunacy proceedings: tnus nis ment al capacity has increased. One of the few interesting features of the evidence was the story, told by Robins of spending large sums of money on clothes in order that he might be smartly dressed as the companion of the marquis on his visit to the Uni ted States In quest of an American bride. In 18 months he spent 166 on tailors' bills; Robins was obviously embarrassed when the counsel for the plaintiff asked him wnat was tne od ject of thla expenditure, for he replied that it was purely a personal ratter. nd that he haa no desire 10 vtouna the uHceDtlbllttles or Lord or Lady Townshend. A large part of the china had disappeared, and counsel did not think It likely that Mr. Robins knew nothing of the fact, although the defense would possibly suggest that it was not done under his control.
