Pacific University, Forest Grove, Or.. March 24 The big handicap cross coun try run waa held last night The first both In time and place, waS won by L. Austin; the second by Reeher, and third by H. Thomas. A. Robinson came In fourth. The result was something of a surprise. Austin and Reeher were known to be speedy but they developed unexpected endurance and ran a very close race at the finish. Robinson, tha captain of the squad. Is accounted the best long distance runner and his fail ure to win out is explained by Coach Hahn as due to the heavy handicap of 60 seconds placed upon him. The time of the winner was 18 minutes 1 second. ana tne distance covered was some what over three miles. There was keen competition ror every place and the run ners exhibited fine form, the result of tneir winter s training. Thus rrom the good showing made last night there will undoubtedly be fine material for the coming track team. w. C aeiteUa, ir too mi ArrticTfD. pout delat.
