Several suggestions are given, any one of which will help materially, and if careful attention fs paid to the offending member and it Is regularly treated as prescribed, the acquirement of a milk-white feature may be re- frarded as a certainty. Anyway, noth ng can be lost, and the trouble can not grow worse because a little ef fort is taken to cure it. An habitually red nose Is entirely a question of circulation, for the blood settles In this most conspicuous fea ture of the face, and the result Is most Mrs, Symes' OWING to th great amount of mail received and the limited space given this department, lt is absolutely Impossible to an swer letters tn the Sunday Issue follow ing their receipt The letters must b answered in turn, and this ofttimes re quires three or four weeks. All correspondents who desire an Im mediate answer must inclose a self-addressed stamped envelope for a reply. This rule must also be complied with In s regard to personal letters. To Reduce the Hips X T Z The exercise here described Is highly recommended by one who has had much experience In giving and di recting exercises for the Improvement of bodily symmetry. She states that lt has reduced the hips two Inches In a month. ' Lie extended on the floor, supporting the body by one hand, while the other Is placed upon the hip. While holding this position, raise the body gradually from the floor, until the weight Is sup ported by the hand and feet It is com paratively easy tc get the body from the floor 'as far as the knees, but to bring It up to the full extent Just de scribed is not easy at first It should be tried first on one side and then on the other. Complexion Clearer RUBY The following treatment is excellent for clearing the complexion: " Bub the face over. Keep your chin well powdered and it Will not appear so red. Possibly the same physical trouble that caused the unattractive, as many women know to their sorrow. To start the circulation nothing Is so -useful as a cold. bath, and this for the nose means spraying for Ave minutes every day with icy water, keeping a continual flow di rected toward the offending member. After this the next operation In the Cure Is to massage the nose, always moving the hands from the tip to ward the bridge, thus starting the newly aroused blood In the way It should go; then soap and water ap plied with a stiff brush, so that every particle of dust Is removed, aids the cold spray In keeping the pores closed, and thus the blackheads will soon dis appear. These little pests are usually part of a really florid nose, and must, therefore, be obliterated, or the white nose will be Just as ugly as the red one was. . , The first artificial aid Is the spirits Of camphor rubbed on after the stren uous wash with the stiff brush. What ever the chemical effect of the spir Advice to Correspondents red face also caused the red chin and the pimples. You must keep the organs which take away all waste matter active. When these avenues are Inactive the skin shows It Immediately. Drink plenty of water, eat plenty of fruit bathe dally, breathe deeply. Each night bathe the face In warm water and pure soap, anointing the face with a good cream. If this treatment Is persisted In the trouble you complain of will disappear. Hair Falling Out WORRIED It may be that your scalp la In a bad condition. I am giving you a formula for bald spots, and if after you have given lt a fair trial you have not received satisfactory results, write me again, stating whether your hair is dry or oily, and I will advise you further. Formula: Six ounces of distilled rose water, Ave drains of aromatic vinegar, two and one-half ounces of pure glycer ine, one-half ounce of tincture of nux vomica, two and one-half ounces tlno ture cantharldes. It 1b, therefore, necessary that sufficient exercise be taken to digest these foods. The Vaucaire tonic will help any thin woman to gain flesh and fill out the hollow places In the chest The formula Is as follows: Three fluid drams of liquid extract of galega (goatsrue), 154 grains of lacto-phosphate of lime, ten grains of tincture of fennel, thirteen and a half ounces of simple syrup. To the oily skin apply this lotion'. One dram of boraclc acid, two ounces of distilled witch hazel, two ounces of rosewater. It does seem strange that exercise both Increases and decreases flesh, but If one is stout and .takes vigorous ex ercise the superfluous fat Is burned up and a good bit of weight is lost, while if one is too thin and exercises health fully, the muscles are strengthened and developed, and thus a fuller framework la formed for the tissue padding. Exer THE OREGON SUNDAY, its" may be, lt certainly has a lasting effect on the red nose. These treat ments every morning and a little powder before going out will surely cur any poor circulation; but the powder should be lightly applied, so that lt cannot get into as 4 stretch the pores that the earlier remedies have been trying to close up. The causes of a red nose are two: tight lacing and Indigestion. The first Is easily overcome, and the second msy be partly cured by the habit of deep breathing, which both fills ' the lungs with good air and Increases the circulation of the blood. A tea for red noses, or rather a lo tion, is made of three apples and one quince set to simmer on the back of the fire and left there for several hours. When the fruit has almost dis appeared the liquid Is strained through a cloth and bottled. A red nose caused by a cold Is mere ly a passing affliction, but It may be kept within reasonable bounds by the frequent application of a cream or other soothing oils, particularly at night. It Is better while a cold en dures not to use powder, for It only Irritates the pkln and Increases the dif ficulty, though a hot spray Is very ben eficial. When the cold has disappeared the cold spray may be resumed. cise will also stimulate the appetite, and thus enable you to eat larger quanti ties of fat-producing foods. . A physician has said: "I consider the high-heeled shoe is now the greatest contributing cause for the necessity of organic operations upon women." If Dame Fashion does not soon decree that high heels be discarded for the flat foot of the "suffragrette" the doctors will not hold themselves responsible for the health of the women of today, and es pecially tomorrow. Another authority has remarked that "women may Imagine that they delude men into thinking that their height is greater and their feet are smaller, but I do not believe that any man with sense enough to have opinions 1s ever deceived at all. And when men realize how destructive to the health such ex aggerated heela are and how lnjurioos to the organs, they will shun women who wear them, particularly when y are seeking wives." Still more discouraging! It seems that a woman must choose between fashion able footgear and a husband. Yet they call them the weaker sex even with such mighty matters resting upon their decision. ' Perhaps it is true that high-heeled shoes are not so healthful as they might be. but It seems hardly fair to cast them Into such utter oblivion.
