TWO MORE DAYS TO GET DISCOUNT Pan Kellaher and A. N. Willett have both entered the lists as candidates for the senate from Multnomah county. Both pledge themselves In the event of their election to "be the servant of the people, not of the machine. I favor Statement No. 1, first, last and all the t''rhe announcements of Mr. Kellaher's and Mr. Wlllett's candidacy were filed with the county clerk this morning. Both men are well known. Mr Kellahcr has announced that when he went lnt the campaign for . the nomination for senator, that he would take off his coat and go'ln with all earnestness. Tho Intimation of his candidacy on a Statement No. 1 ticket has caused a good deal of uneasiness In the machine camp, ana preparations have been made to concentrate a good deal of the "organization" fire upon him. Mr. Kellaher will come back at the assailants with a redhot campaign, and It Is predicted that from this time on there win De something aoing every "minute. Both men are earnest in their advo- eaey of the pflnclnles of the primary law and Statement No. 1 and will make a strenuous fight throughout the coun- ty on that piatrorm. Interesting disclosures relative to Chinese women who have lived In this country for years contrary to the law and other details dealing with the Chinese and their secret motives of various kinds promise to be revealed In the United States district court this afternoon during the trial of Ieong So, a woman, and Chin You, her companion, arrested by the Portland Immigration authorities for being in this country Illegally. The sum stolen Is said to nave amounted to considerably more, but so far the authorities have been un able to discover it. Leong, though little more than a girl and pretty, has lived In San Francisco 14 years, and It Is said that long ago she fell from her social standing and became one of the merry-makers In Chinatown. Leon? liked to dress In gay colors, she liked to Be admired by the opposite sex. and consequently, she at tended all Chinese functions and went early and stayed late. Incidental to James' desire to press his Hps to those of the lady Is his subsequent belligerent attitude toward Mr. BJorklund, and his attempt to choke the latter. Thereon is based the com plaint of assault and battery that led to the Issuance of a warrant and James' arrest. The BJorklunda conduct a rooming house at Fourth and Everett streets. According to the story related to Deputy City Attorney Tomlinson In the police court this morning James went to the house last night and rented a room. He was shrwn to the apartment by Mrs. BJorklund, who lit the gas and looKea bdoui to mase sure tnat the room was in order. As she turned to leave she found her passage to the door closed by the form of James, who de manded toll In the shape of a kiss. The man was Kindly Dut rirmly In formed that kisses did not go with the room, nor were they furnished under the head of "extras." For reply James forced the lady Into a corner of the room, placed a chair in front of her and then sat down in the chair. He then quietly rolled a cigarette and in formed Mrs. BJorklund that she would remain a prisoner until such a time as she consented to comply with his request for a kiss. Mrs. BJorklund declares she remained a prisoner In the corner for an hour and a half, at the end of which period she made a break for tha d onr And liberty. -She was caught by James and returned to her prison, but not hefore she had succeeded in arousing her hus band by her screams for help. When BJorklund arrived on the scene he was choked until he promised to be good. He kept the promise until this morning when he swore to a warrant for James' arrest. 'I must have been crazy," is all the explanation offered by James. GOLD SEEKERS RUSH TO NEW MINING CAMP San Diego, Cal., March 13.
