NEAR-VICTIM OF LAW VIOLATION WAS ORIGINATOR OF THAT LAW George L. Baker of the Baker the atre, is the originator of the rlght-of-v ay ordinance pertaining to automobll Ists. The law went Into effect No vember 1. Mr. Baker returned from Denver Just a few days ago. Last night the right-of-way ordinance was violated. As a result, in Just this particular Instance, the originator of the law came mighty near being a victim of the disregarded rules. It was at the corner of Fifth and Morrison streets. Tho time was about 10:30 o'clock. Mr. Baker started across the street. Whiz, toot-toot, and biff. That Is, almOBt biff. An automobillxt, evidently an enthusiast, came along. He was going south in Fifth street nnd was steering to turn south Into Mor rison. And the chauffeur made the turn all right but it was not according to law. Tho driver cut off nearly all the corner. It was not a slow, long turn as is called for by Mr. Baker s ordinance. And in the cut Mr. Baker almost went under the wheels of the heavy touring car. "Look out," yelled the machine driv er. This after he had passed the the atrical manager and was gone. "Are you coming back?" shouted Mr. Baker, but without avail. The ma chine, driver and all were out of sight. Then Mr. Baker took his troubles to a policeman standing near the poat office. But the officer of the law had never heard of such an ordinance per taining to tin! right of way. So Mr. Baker was around town to day looking for a number on a certain machine. But he Isn't exactly sure just what license number he Is search ing for.
