Votes are not purchased at so much each but. for every cent received by this paper a cent's worth of value Is dealt out In news of the world. It is an investment rather than an expen diture, and no one should consider it in the light the money paid out is money thrown away. A difference of few hundred votes is not a very large margin, as it means but a six' months' subscrip tion to the Astorian, and those who are behind by such a small number should keep on with the race with renewed vigor. There Is a ballot box In the As toran office where the votes may be deposited for any young ladies whom vou mav tee fit to vote for. If vou - - - cannot bring the ballots to the office, end them in by mail to the Contest Manager and the votes will be ac corded to the young lady for whom they are intended. The votes are counted twice, so there can be no mistake as to the proper number of ballots accorded to each candidate. The votes are always open for inspec tion to insure a fair deal. HOW TO WIN. Any yonng lady who desires to en ter this great contest and win one of the magnificent prizes offered, should at once see that her name is sent to the contest manager. All that is necessary to win a prize is to receive the largest number of votes accord ing to the condition mentioned else where in this announcement. Candidates should at once interest their friends in the contest and by united and energetic action induce as many people as possible to vote for them, Each nomination coupon cut from the Astorian will count for five votes for a candidate. The nomination coupon will only ,'appear for a few days. The easiest jand quickest way to win is for candi dates to ask their friends to prepay their subscription for six to twelve months.
