Will Not Sign Ordinance. It is re ported on good authority that Mayor Wise has definitely decided not to sign the new ordinince passed unanimously on last Monday night by the city coun cil, providing for the entering into a contract with the Astoria Electric Com pany, to light the city f6r five years. According to the information, the May or does not believe that such a long term contract is advisable, as in his opinion the city may in the near future be able to operate and own it's own plant. The Mayor is allow cd ten days in which to sign the ordinance from the passage by tho council. If Mayor Wise does not sign the bill, the mat ter can only be passed over his veto by a two thirds vote of the council.
