For President WILLIAM M'KIXLEY. Of Ohio. For Yice-Frcsident THEODORE KOOSEYELT, Of New York. Can it be that those phonographs which Bryan has been sending out have had anything to do with the violent wind storms that have been sweeping across the country? Judging by the number ef native converts the Boxers are reported to have massacred, the missionaries must have been doing something besides drawing their salaries, after all. President Kruger Is evidently not the master plrit of the Boer war as for merly. Despite his cowardly flight from the scene of hostilities, the real ratrlots continue putting up a fight which keeps the British on the run. Giving due allowance to natural fondness for the location where they have long lived and labored, an out sider cannot but believe that the people of Galveston are acting unwisely In re building their demolished city on the narrow sand spit which has proven to dangerous a site. Among the lessons of the past few months perhaps none Is more striking than the way in which we have been forced to realize the unity of the hu man race. The British bayonet charge upon the surrendered Boers, the atro cities of the Russians in China, the looting cf captured cities by the al lied forces, anl last but not least our own Akron and New York horrors, all go to prove .that the veneer of civili zation is very thin over the beet of us. TWELVE PRESIDENTIAL TICKETS. Chioatto Times-Herald. The two million new voters of this country who will vote for president for the first time this fall willl have a grea't wealth of material from which to make a choice of candidates. In the exercise of the elective franchise the first voter Is not restricted to the two ttreat parties by any means. He has an opportunity to gratify every possible political whim or caprice. He can easily accommodate any political crank notion that may have taken pos session of his mental faculties. Such a bargain counter array of presiden tial offerings w'as never presented in any national campaign In the history of the country. There are now twelve presidential tickets In the field. The last two ad ditions were made on Wednesday of this week when nominations were made by the "Union Reform Party" and the "National Party." The nomi nators of the former were made by a referendum ballot. In which thirty states participated. The nominations of tfc; National Party were made in regular convent! a In New York city. Its platform Is as formidable and pre tentious as though it were going to cast several million votes, It alms to secure a renunciation "of all imperial or coionlal pretensions with regard to foreign countries claimed to have been acquired in consequence of the Spanish-American war." It is also for a single gold standard, for the merit 85'stem iu the public service and for the abolition of all "corrupting special privileges, whether under the guise of subsidies, bounties, undeserved pensions or trust-breeding tariffs." The presidential tickets and parties nominating them are as follows: SOCIALIST LABOR JAN. 27. Job F. Harrlman President Max S. Hayes .Vice President SOCIAL DEMOCRACY-MARCH . Eugene V. Debs......
