The Quartermaster at Fort Klamath advertises for five horses to be used in the cavalry service, They must be geld- ings, of hardy colors, sound and in good condition, well broken to the saddle, 15 to 16 hands high, not less than five nor more than nine years old. A board will be in session at the Post from 11 A. m . to 3 P. M. to inspect animals offered. Jack Montgomery, who was thought to have been fatally injured by the pis tol wound in the abdomen, has been gradually improving under the care of Dr. Danforth in the county hospital, and is now considered out of danger. Much credit is due his physician for the skill and success- with which the difficult case was treated. F erree ' s Morgan & Woodson, Pursuant to call, a meeting of citi zens was held in Houck's Hall Tuesday evening, to consider the matter of the celebration of the Fourth of July. A. S. Jacobs was called to the chair, and, on motion C. Merritt was chosen secre tary. Moved and carried that the Fourth he celebrated in proper style in Ashland. On motion, a committee on General Aarangements w:is appointed, with pow er to appoint sub-committees, and trans act such other business as may be neces sary.
