Mr. and Mrs. John Larsen of Port land are visiting wilh Mrs. Larsen's mother, Mrs. J. G. Johnson, near this city. Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Heimbach ar rived on Tuesday's train to Bpend a few days with Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Burton. Sirs. F. W. Carson, Miss Thelma Fowler and Miss Louise Whippo went up to Nashville last Saturday to play for a dance. The grading for the new National bank. building has been completed and the concrete work mill be commenced at once. Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Howell drove down to Yachats Sunday to n'tpnd the wedding of Morris Harrison and Pearl Emmons. Frank Hyde of Philomath was visit ing here wi.h his mother the first of the week. Frank returned to Philo math Tuesday. Mrs. E. J. Fowler and daughter, Miss Thehiia, spent several days at Newport this week, returning home yesterday nocn. Mr. and Mrs. M. S. Collins of Si lets were in the city Saturday enroute to their home at Siletz after spending a week at the beach. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Signer arrived down from Portland the first of the wesk for a visit with Mrs. Signer's mother, Mrs. Johnson. Mrs. Elmer Ellsworth of Marshfield and Mrs. Herman Horning of Grants Pass arrived in Toledo last Saturday for a visit with Fred and Elmer Horn ing and families. Mts. E. Hock received a carload of cement Wednesday for use on the Corvallls-Newport hishwav. Mr. Mock has the contract putting in itlie con crete culvert ends. H. E. Peterson the jeweler, has pur chased a lot on Second street of J. I. Wright. This lot is just west of R. A. Andersen's new house. Mr. Peterson expects to build on same next year. Mr. and Mrs. Rassmussen and son, accompanied by Mrs. Zevely departed Friday afternoon for their homes In Portland after spending a week on the coast. They were travelling via auto. iMr. and Mrs. Zaloom of Salem wefe visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Altree at Siletz the first of the week. They rpi'iit several days last weok at the beach. Mrs. Altree and Mrs. Zaloom are sisters. Mrs. O. R. Altree and daughters, Edna and Margaret, returned to Port land Sunday, alter a short visit here. Mrs. N. H. Sherwood and daughter, Miss Ilah, were passengers for Port land Monday. Turnoy's of Chemawa are giving a concert at Siletz tomorrow evening. Rmhyn Turney, violinist and compos er assisted by Mr3. I Poviil Murray, who has been making his home with his son, Hush, near this city, departed last week for Wheatland, Wyo. He accompanied his daughter home, Mrs. A. L.
