Of this amount, $180 000 Is to be raised In Portland, and the remainder throughout the State. The appeal of the State Chamber for funds to carry on its work is based strictly on 4ts accomplishments since it was organized less than two years aco. It believes that the merchant and manufacturer, the refail dealer and the farmer will respond unani mously to provide an adequate income whereby this development work can be carried on with the maximum of suc cess. More than 200 leading men through out the state have endorsed the ex pansion movement of the State Cham ber. They declare it to be the loEiral medium to take the initiative in work ing for the state as a whole. Its program of activities Includes agricul tural development, land settlement the building of good roads, railrid extention, irrigation, Industrial ex pansion and an advertising campaign for Oregon. The Leader heartily endorse tlie movement of the State Chamber, le cause it believes in the State Chamber It is hoped that Lincoln County, unci particularly Toledo, will do its share to make the movement a success.
