LINCOLN, COUNTY LEADER. FRIDAY, MARCH 1Sth,191 JETTY WORK COMMENCED Foreman Carlson and crew of men arrived at Newport the first of the week and are get ting things in shape for the driving of piling for the south Jetty. Mr. Carlson is in charge of the pile driving crew; and will rush this work along as fast as possible. The pile-driving en gine and machinery arrived on last Friday's freight. Quarry foreman Wallen is also here and is getting things shap ed up to commence quarrying rock. While the Southern Pa cific company has made Con tractor Berry a rate of 35 cents per ton on rock, from Pioneer to Yaquina, still it has not been defmately decide whether the rock will be quarried at Pioneer or at the old government quarry above town. THE THIRD LIBERTY LOAN The campaign for the Third Liberty Loan will be opened on the Gth or April, the anniversary of the declaration of a state of war between the United States and Germany. The amount, terms, and con ditions of the loan are depend ant upon further legislation and will be announced as soon as Congress lias granted the nec essary powers.
