"MY WIFE'S RELATION" This One-Act Comedy was pre sented by the Eighth Grade pu pils of the Toledo Grammar school at the Dime last evening. 1 ne program consisted of the comedy, a song and pantomime by Miss Verne Ross and Mlt.3 Mary.Geer, song by Mlsa Caro line Mattoon and a recitation by Miss Herthel Ports. THAYER DIES OF PNEUMONIA Word was received here Sat urday of the death of Dr. S. S. Thayer at his home in Paisley, Eastern Oregon, from the effects of pneumonia. Dr, Thayer was for some years a practicing physician of Toledo. In 1904 he, with his family moved to Eastern Oregon, where they have since made their home. Dr. Thayer was married while living in Toledo to Miss Eflle Crosno, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. B. Crosno, of this city. Mrs. Thayer has been quite sick for several weeks, and Is now In a hospital at The Dalles. Her father and piother and sis ter, Mrs. Carl Gildersleeve, and Mr. Gildersleeve are now there, having been called by Mrs. Thayer's illness. Cliff Crosno left Monday morning also. Dr. Thayer's unexpected death was a shock to the many friends of the family in Toledo, and the sympathy of all go out to the bereaved family In their sorrow. o Phil Eltlng came over from Si letz Sunday to begin work on the new Pioneer, or Simpson creek, road. He expects to rush this road to completion as soon as the weather permits. Rev; Allen preached at the lo cal M. E. Church last Sunday morning and evening.. He re turned to Ilarrisburg Monday, morning. The pulpit will be oc cupied next Sunday both morn ing and evening by Rev. Rhys Gwynn. E. Demarest of Cathlamet, Washington, arrived Wednesday evening to take charge of the section work on the J. B. Miller logging railroad. Mr. Demarest is an old time friend of Mr. Miller having helped him build his first logging railroad some years ago. 1'Le sawmill here is making lots of lumber iow since resum ing, cutting more per day than ever before. The J. B. Ross has been in Salom this week as a witness in the case of the State vs. Rex Turner. Turner is charged with grafting at the state fair last Fall. Mr. Ross was an officer at the fair and it was through him that the system of grafting was detected, consequently he is one of the star witnesses. The Junior Class spelled 60f words missing but 14 words out of the 600. - One pupil, Ilah Sherwood, spelled every word correctfy.
