Elma Waugh, Charlotte Crosno, Martha Goin, Committee. o Remember the Grange Fair at Toledo Thursday and Kriday. o A GAMBLING JOINT Have a recall election. Clean out the gamblers at the court' house and elevate the moral standard of Toleio and Lincoln county. It was an old scheme but they fell for it. They fell hard, but a sofa pillow worth 89 cents at bargain sale saved their lives, It did not save their pockets, Nor their reputations. They ieii. bixty cents, seven dimes three quarters of a dollar but why go on? What are a few Lplunka to the courthouse crowd Two ladies of ravishing beauty enticing ways and votes for wo men held the pillow. Also they held 100 tickets, supposedly marked from one cent to ninety nine. , It was like trading for a boy's Jackknife unsight and un-4 seen.. And not even a guarantee of "whole blade and whole han dle" to go on. A sofa pillow! Tired nature's sleep in a' whole eklnthmemem aweet restorer! "It is good to sleep in a whole skin," says the proverb, but the gamblers didn't. They were skinned. Here is a problem ir arithme tic for Surveyor McM. who is said to be an expert at figures: If a Bofa pillow costs 49.5 cents and is gambled off for $49.50, what percent Easy Mark is tb buyer of a 99th chance to win itr Please report. I pass that. A problem for our Judge: If A borrows 60c. of B to buy a lottery ucKet ana both are ar rested for gambling, what is the 1 . m iegai penaay me law assesses to the Judge? Please report. I pass tne duck. - Query for Deputy Clerk: In what book was that affair re corueuj Ana now mucn are you out of pocket? Please re port. Our valiant Sheriff: Did you say to the proprietors of the gambling outfit, "Ladles. I re gret to say you are shattering me law i am sworn to unhold Consider yourselves under arrest for skinning these other court house innocents. I shall con flscate the sofa pillow for evl dence?" Nix, ao far as heard from. But why continue! They fell So far as I know the only one wno resisted the combined charms of the two ladles and the sofa pillow was a humble school teacher, who refused to gamble. Modesty forbids my mentioning urn name. CM. Drake,. : o i . M. E. CHURCH NOTES There will be services at the Methodist Episcopal Church next Sunday. The pastor will preach at both services.
