The game was enlivened during the sixth frame by a little box ing contest, staged by Edwards and Van Orden. Next Sunday Elk City and Si letz play on the Toledo grounds. Court Stenographer Calkins and family arrived over from Roseburg Friday. They drove by auto as far as Eddyville, where they had to leave the car on account of bad roads. Miss Verne Ross, who has been attending Summer school at Berkeley, California, will re turn home about the middle of the month, accompanied by her sister, Mrs. Grace Morris, who has been making her home at Lotli for the past three years. Chas. II. Glos, the Corvallis at toney, was in the city the first of the week looking after legal mat ters. Mr. Cos is proud of the fact that he was one of the team who initiated William J. Bryan into the Loyal Order of Moose at San Diego a couple of weeks ago. In a letter to her sister, Mrs. Esther Andersen, Mrs. Anna Turner of Canton, South Dakota states that she and husband, Dr. Turiker, will visit the coast this Summer. They will motor from South Dakota to San Francisco, then up the coast to Eureka, for a visit then on to Toledo, arriv ing here In September. Miss Eudelie Bethers enter tained a few of her friends on Monday evening, which was planned as a special compliment to Miss Frances Avery, who leaves for Portland soon. Those present were Mrs. Fred Salvage, Misses Frances Avery, Mabel Booth, Rosa Schlecht, Clara Larson, Eleanor Grady, Essie Ball, Eudelie Bothers, Messrs. Fred Salvage, Carl Moore, Clyde and Alec McMillan, Beal Galther, Ed Thompson, Charley Gilder slccve and Kris Norgaard. The evening was spent in games.
