Dr. James Withycombe of the Oregon Agricultural College will address the people of this county at the Fair on Friday, the 23d. Mrs. J. C. Altree arrived home from Portland last Saturday, where she has been taking treatment at a hospital. Her health is greatly im proved. Henry Burns, one of Toledo's old time residents, now living in Idaho, has been in town several days this week, returning home yesterday morning. At the conference of Board of Education and the County Court last Tuesday the matter of appoint ing a county school supervisor was postponed. 0 Hon. Ben Jones, register of the United States landoffice at Rose burg, writes that he is making ar rangements to spend the entire four days of the Fair among his uld pioneer friends here. ' A party consisting of Mrs. E. M. Wood, Rufus, Leland and Bulah Wood; Miss Berg and Mr. Davis of Chitwood, who " have been bven camping at the beach for the. past saveral days, returned to Chitwood Wednesday. Henry Campbell came in from his chittim camp on- the old home farm the firot of the week. Henry and brother, George, are peeling chittim bark and expect to add many dollars to their bank accounts this Summer. Jack Ross departed last Sunday evening for Lodi. California, where his brother and sister, Fred and Grace, are. He will probably remain all Summer. Roy Swearin gen and Carl Gildersleeve are oper ating the motion picture machine at the "Dime" during Jack's ab sence. The following young ladies went to Otter Rock Monday on a camping trip: Alta Waugh, Eleanor Grady, Rose Morris, Lena, Edith and Essie Ball, Lola Wade. Mrs. M. L. Mor ris went along as' chaperone. Sev eral of the girls were obliged to return Tuesday, but most of them expect to stay a week. Messrs. Hobart and Huffman; who have leased the Oregon Lum ber and Construction Co'smill here, are in the city to begin operating the mill and logging camps, but a hitch in leases of right of way of the logging railroad throught some farms has caused delay. It is hoped the matter will soon be ad justed and the work resumed. BASE BALL.. Siletz and Eddyville will play ball on the local diamond next- Sunday. This is the first time these teams have played this season. They are djuite evenly matched and should put up a good gamo. Game called at 2:30.
