County Superin tendent Goin is rustling we know what that means. School Day at the Fair. With the assistance of the other members of the educational com mittee, and some good suggestions from others who are deeply inter ested in the work, I have decided to hold a School Board Convention on the 8th of September. At this gathering I would like to see at least one member of every school board in the county. The chair man of each district, according to the school law, is the one to attend, but in case it is impossible for him to come he should see that some member of the board does come. If you have a Bchool law please read page 62, it will do you good. It was my intention to have Super intendent Ackerman here with us, to see that .we do the work well, but he tells me that it will be im possible for him to come at that time. He mentioned Prof. Lewis R. Alderman as one of the shining lights on the educational staff of Oregon who can do the work that h wished to do as well as any I might find. Prof. Alderman will be here with all his personal mag netism and that boundless supply of enthusiasm that he always has for such occasions. There will be interesting talks by members of the school boards from different parts of the county. In these talks the speaker will make known the needs of the school in his district or in his part of the county. Prof. Alderman will then tcil him what to do to secure these needs. He will also tell you of things about which you have not yet thought, that will be of the greatest importance to you. The" schools of Lincoln county are com ing to the front and while they are on the move we, one and all, should assist so their speed will forever be increased. The Fair is going to be by far the best the county has had, and Ave wish to make the educational part at least equal to, if not better, than any of the rest. This convention is not for the directors alone, it is for all who are interested in the education of our boys and girls, so I will say come one, come all and find out what is being done and what will be done. R. P. Goin, County School Superintendent. The athletic committee of the Fair met hero Tuesday afternoon. They have arranged for sports for the entire three days of the fair. They will have something doin' every minute. - 80 A. 12 miles above Elk City on Big Elk, county road throughr place, 15 ,a. river bottom land, a chance for an ideal home, good neighbor hood, $600. c.
