Thu first landing was made at X. rf. rand's wharf. Just ahove the old govern ment rock quarry John Mieek was found in the hay field. He was very husy hut finally stopped pitch ing hay for a few minutes to talk. The appearance of the place was proof that Air. Micck was in the hahit of working. He has owned this place the old Maekoy farm hut two years, but he has trans formed it from a wild, brushy jungle to a, fine, well-kept home. lie has reclaimed several acres of the rich bottom lands, set out "a fine orchard, and is preparing to plant more, built a good house, has several dairy cows, and is pros pering. . The party would have stopped next at Anton Krzew'ski's wharf on the old Sam Logan place, but it is known that Mr. Krzewski has sold the farm to Atti rncy Hawkins of Toledo, and is getting ready to va cate, so he was not bothered. The next stop was at J. 11. Lynde's, the old Cloak place, where everything was lively. Mr. I.ynde was plowing and breaking up a new piece of bottom land. His father and Harry Fyer were building fei.ces. They had just completed harvesting tli;;ir hay crop. Mr. Lyndo is also reclaiming a low piece of ground by ditching. Mr. Eyer was in a hurry to get back to his home, which is up on the mountain hack of Mr. Lynde's place as he said he had lots of clearing to do. . lhe next pta-son to be bothered was Adam Rae, the gardner. He was busy, of course. His launch had just gone to Newport with load of garden truck, and Mr. Rae a.... nis oroiner, nonert, who is lending him a hand during the rush, were busy getting berries for a load for the next day. Mr. Rae had just replanted a little strip of He had already received $70 for the green onions taken off the little patch this summer. It was then getting late and as Mr. Rae had loaded the party down with onions and berries they decided to return home. Shoes! Shoes!! Shoes!!!
