Soino weeks ago during ths- severe winter weather both my wile and my-nolf- contracted severe colda which speedily developed into the worst kind of la grippe with all its miserable Ryni toins, says Mr. J. S. EKgleston of Maple Landing, Iowa. "Knees and joints aching, muscles sore, head stop ped up, eyes and nose running, with alternate spells of chills and fever. We began using Chamberlain's Cough Remedy, aiding the same with a dose of Chamberlain's Stomach- and Liver Tablets, and by its liberal use soon comuletly knocked out the grip." These Tablets promote a healthy action of the bowels, liver and kidneys which ia always beneficial when the system is congested by a cold or attack ol the grip. For sale by O. O. Krogstad. Butt's Brickbats. Two brickbats for which William Butts paid $750 are lying on an ash heap back of his boarding-house in this city. In his room, but hateful to his sight, is a small, neat box that fastens with an ordinary key lock. The box originally contained the bricks, and the bricks were shipped to him by express from Newark, X. J. and were paid for in advance. Mr. Butts deeply regrets a trip to Newark, from which place he returned this week. When he went away he told his friends lie was called eaetto dispose of a patent, for which he had been of fered $500. He told his family in east ern Oregon that when he returned ho would bring them a lot of Christmas presents. When he reached Newark be met by appointment a green-goods agent and invested f"50 in counterfeit bills ranging in denomination from 81 to $100. He saw the goods packed in the box, witnessed its consignment at the Newark express office tn his address in Portland. He then left for home, arriving here a day ahead of the box. When it came it brought the two brickbats aforesaid, instead of $7,000 in brigfit green bills. Mr. Butts was "broke," aud hungry. He borrowed a few dollars few dollars from a friend and found a job painting a house. What worries him most is to make good his promise of Christmas presents for the folk at home. Portland Journal. The Key that Unlocks the Door to Long Living. The men of eighty-live aud ninety years of uge are not the rotund veil fed, but thin, spare men who Uve on slender diet. Be as careful as he will, however, a man past middle age, will occasionally eat too much or of some article of food tot suited to his constitution, and will need a doe of Chamberlain's Stomach and Liver Tab lets to cleanse and iuvigorate his stom ach and regulate his liver and bowels. When this is done there is no reason why the average man should not live to old age. For sale by O. O. Krogstad. NOTICE OF SHEKIFF'S SALE UNDER EXE CUTION AND ON FORECLOSURE OF MORTGAGE.
