The steamer Robarts came in Monday after a cargo of flour and feed. Miss Priscilla Hoefiein is in New port enjoying the fine weather and the beach. Mr. Andrew and son of Beaver creek are in town. They will work in the C. & E. shops. A number of boats are out every night fishing, but they report the catch small compared with other seasons. Honey finds a ready sale this year, and seems to be of superior quality. The majorty of the people in this neck o the woods have gone, are going, or talking of going to the valley to pick hops. The little rains the Iatler part of last week did a lot of good to the late potatoes and grass, besides laying the dust and cooling the air. Chittim peeling: is about over for the year and some have made a good score at the business. We understand the price of bark has an upward tendency. J. E. Wilson has a wonderful apple tree,- which is only two years old from the graft and displays 106 large, luscious red apples. It is called the Bismarck. Mrs. L. F. Fepin had a narrow escape the other day in corssing a bridge over Simpson creek. The horses broke through, but being a small bridge, the wagon and Mrs. Pepin didn't follow. Tilucum. Charles Ball and Archie Stephens started with their pack train the other day, and sowed fish along the Newport road. Abe Logan said he had rope enough to reach to Grand Round. We can't tell what for, unless he will stretch it, and when going out will hang on the rope to keep from getting lost in the mud. Clarence Parmele started out with a load of fish the other day, and while going down bill his horses balked, and in a little while a wheel collapsed.
