Captain Smith, alias Wild Bill, and his companion, Paul Chatterton, accompanied by their dogs, were on the north side of Siletz bay last Thursday. . G. S. Parmele and daugliter are going to Toledo, the former to file on a homestead, the, latter to attend the teachers' institute. - . The people here leel more as if they belonged to Lincoln county since the assessor has been around. Now for some good roads. Archibald Thompson is home from McMiunville, without a punc ture. He made the trip over that horrible Salmon river road, whidi we hear so much about, A party of pleasure-seekers who came in from the valley a few days ago over, that Salmon river road had one wagon wheel demolished and the tongue-bolt broken. Arthur Johnson is spending his vacation in Portland with his mother. Harry Davis has quite recovered from his illness and is able to be yut with the deer hunters. The Rev. Mr. Dawson's service Sunday was. well attended. The sermon was very instructive.' D. P. Blue and R. A. Stratford left Thursday , morning for Aber deen, Vash. May success attend them. Mrs. Turner and daughter of Albany arc spending a few days at Yaquina, the guest of Mrs. William Toner. Mrs. C. K. Ilout of Corvallis came in Saturday to- spend several weeks at the west side with Mrs. Stevens. Charles Gordon ot" Oakland, Cul.', is i.i town shaking hands with old lends and looking after property 1 interests. The entertainment given at the church Saturday evening, by Miss Klla Knight of New York was a very enjoyable affair. She is an elocutionist 'and impersonator of i rare abilitv. Her Voice showed careful training. The picnic at Seal Rocks Sunday was well represented by the young people of Yaquina and they brought home as reminders some badly burned faces. -Those attending were: Misses .
