Lloyd Pmett is home for the summer. He has been attending school at Salem during the past year. A. S. Casteel is home again from California. He says he likes Or egon best. Arch Horning and family are occupying the Fagan house. Mrs. Gordon and son Arthur re turned Monday from their visit at Dritt creek. They had a very rainy time. Mr. Prettymay and family are in the Haas cottage. The bridge gang are all at home this week, as they are working on this end of the road. Miss Pearl Markhain arrived Fri day from Monmouth, where she has been attending school. Mrs. Geo. Litchfield and daugh ter Helen came in Saturday eveniug trom Salem and will spend the summer with her son Charlie. T. T. Reeder and family Sun. dayed at Toledo. Yes, we are all getting ready for the Fourth, and Yaquina people--old and young, great and small will go to Toledo and help celebrate. The young people are enjoying the smooth bay. Everything that will float has an occupant, and there are uot boats enough to sup ply the demand. JOHNSON ITEMS. News is scarce. Land-hunters and home-seekers are netting thick down in this neck o the woods. We like to see them come. One of them has $000 and another $15,000 to put in land. The one with the $15,000 got it by going into the mountains twenty miles from any place and taking a claim and sticking to it until he made what he has. He is only about thirty years old at present. Tlie Parmele brothers and Mr. Morris took two four-horse loads of wool to Sheridan and returned with provisions over that horrid Salmon river road. Plenty of talk now concerning the proposed toll-road up Salmon river from the beach. Flounder fishing is hard on the nerves and bad for the temper when crabs are thick. Real Estate Cheap. Last Friday, the 22d inst, the people of Chitwood bade farewell to our esteemed friends E. W. Durkee and family. Mr. Durkee and son Frank started for South Dakota and Mrs. Durkee for Eng land, where she will visit her old home for about three months and then return to her husband in South Dakota, where they expect to reside in the future. They will be greatly missed by us all, for they had the good will and respect of the entire community. Word has just reached us that Prof. C. D Wiison, son of J. E. Wilson of this place, was married on the 17th inst to a Miss Ada Berry of St. Helena, Cal. Claude was. well known in this county, and was highly respected by all who knew him, and all unite in congratulating him on his new venture. They expect to make their home at the St. Helena Sani tarium, where he has steady em ployment, with good pay. Mrs. NcBride, mother of C. C. McBride, is down from Eddyville visiting friends. We understand Mrs. J. Hunter is on the sick list. Berries! Berries!! Berries'!!! Ev erybody has berries, and good ones, too. Both wild and tame are plen tiful.
