Monday for an outing.
Miss Nannie Blower was in town
several ' days, the guest of Miss
Helen Pygall.
The lighthouse tender Columbine
is in the bay attending to thegov

Miss Carrie Hass of Newport
was on our streets Saturday attend
ing to business and calling on her
f iends.
So many people have been at
Toledo attending court our streets
have been almost deserted.
J. S. Gaither has brought the
residence of H. K. Lugger on
Third street and will soon occupy
the same.
Several lady friends of Miss Py
gall assembled at her home Satur
day for dinner and had a very en
joyable time.
Mrs. Jenkins has been quite sick
from an attack of pneumonia. We
hope to see her out soon. When
such good people are sick the rest
of us miss thera.
Quite a number of changes have
taken place recently, Mr. Miller
of the firm of Miller & Pruett has
sold his interest to Mr. Lugger and
has left to look for greener pas
tures. May he prosper.
Elmer Helms of Waldport was
in town to see his grandmother,
Mrs. Harriet Helms, whose health
is very poor, and as she is nearly
ninety years old, it is not likely
there will be any change for the
better. Jerry.
Notice to Voters.
AH voters in the county are re
quired to register on or before the
15th day of May, 1900, in order to
be qualified to vote. Registration
may- be -made- before thecounty
clerk or before a notary public or
justice of the peace. All natural
ized citizens must exhibit their
naturalization papers to the regis
tering officer; those unable to sign
their name and mark their ballots
must have two witnesses present at
registration. At least one registra
tion officer in each precinct will be
furnished with the proper supplies.

The farmer cannot too fully un
derstand that all the live slock on
his farm with which he is brought
in daily contact will partake more
or less of his personal moods. If
he kicks open the barn doors in
the morning and thumps the old
mare with the shovel or pitchfork
to let her know that he is boss of
that ranch, even the hens will be
nervous and out of sorts all day.
