Klondyke Elliott, who was to, answer in circuit court (his morning to the charge of shoot ing at A. Bastendorf, missed this morning's train to Coqullle by about two minutes. He Is out on bonds and he telephoned to Sheriff Gage ex plaining why he couldn't appear. Un der the circumstances, he will prob ably escape penalty for not appearing in court at the time scheduled. It Is believed that worrlment over tho prediction of a fortune teler at a church lawn party caused the. death of Mrs. John Hammond of Sixth, street, who died suddenly In the din ing room of her home. Mrs. John D, Coysh, organist of tho church, took the- role of fortune teller, and pretended to predict tho future from the arrangement of the tea leaves In a. cup. She told Mrs. Hammond Jokingly that a death would occur in the.latter's family.
