Many Cooj Bay people who have been accustomed to spending a few days during the summer at that hospitable home will learn with' re gret of the change. The Smith forces are to be congratulated on securing such an excellent superintendent of tholr culinary department. An Expert Angler. J. W. Booth has departed for his homo In Wino na, Minn., after a short visit with his son, R. K. Booth, manager of the retail business of the C. A. Smith Lumber Company. While here, Mr. Booth demonstrated his ability as an angler, showing R. K. that even he can be"b6at In luring iho elusive and sportive trout from the waters of beautiful Ten Mile. He not only caught .more than his share of the sixty odd fish they landed there Friday buf had tho rare luck of landing two fine ones on one cast. Knights of Pytliins. The Coos County Convention of the Knights of Pythias will be held at Bandon, June 7, instead of June 22, as some have understood it to'he. The Marshfleld and North Bend lodges will send over large delegations. Small Gets Contract. D. W. Small was awarded the contract for grad ing the two blocks of Laurel street north from Central avenue which S. B. Cathcart, Tom Hall, J. F. Hall, W. U. Douglas and others are ar ranging to improve by private con tract. Mr. Small startdd the work today. Work On Shoal. Captain Peters stated today that in all probability I he dredge OregOD would continue Its work on the channel forth from the Cold Storage shoal until the channel Is in good shape there. Tho Bennett Trust Company and the Nasburg estate which owns most of tho property west of the North Front street elevated roadway, has practically agreed to have that filled so that sufficient can be secured to pay for the dredging of about 1,500 of the worst part of the channel.
