Don ham of Fairview, brought in a box of fine apples to The Chamber of Commerce this morning where they will be displayed as examples of the products of this section. Bear Hounds at Gould Ranch. The Harrlman bear hounds have been sent by Col. Grimes to the Gould ranch on North Coos River, above Allegany where they will be kept and trained by Mr. Gould. Hugh Sneddon 111. Hugh Sned don is confined to his home with an attack of the jaundice. Dr. Ingram, who Is attending h'im does not con sider the case a serious one although it will probably lay Mr. Sneddon up for several days. ' Kinney Closes Ofllces. Major L. D. Kinney has closed the offices of the Pacific Broadway Railroad which he recently opened In the Coos building and has gone to North Bend. Whether he will reopen ofllces there or not has not been announced. Eureka Late. Tho Eureka sailed from Portland today for Coos Bay and will sail from hero Friday for Eureka. She will take a number from hero to Eureka, most of them being people who have been employ ed In tho shipyards on tho Coquille. In addition to tho time lost In aid ing the M. F. Plant here, the Eureka lost time on the Columbia. Lost tho Nomination. Dick Dln negan, the well-known 'Frisco travel ing man who has been covering the Coos Bay country for somo years for the wholesale liquor houso of Din negan and Sons of San Francisco, is here today. Ho reports that he lost the Democratic nomination for con gress in the fifth. California district by the narrow margin of two votes. Married In Nprth Bend. Andrew Hoben and Miss Pearl Rezln were married at the Hotel Oregon In North Bend, Sunday night, Judge Schuster officiating. Mr. Hoben 1b a well-known real cstato man and the bride's homo Is on South Inlet. They will reside at Hotel Oregon for the time being. They are tho reci pients of congratulations from their numerous friends. New Hotel Progressing. Tho work on tho now Chandler hotel is progressing rapidly. It Is now be lieved that tho building will ho com pleted about January 15. Manager LaChanco Is proparlng to order tho furniture and fixtures so that It will be here ready to Install just as soon as the building Is completed and ho expects to have tho opening within a week after the contractors turn 22 4:07 23 4:44 24 5:22 25 5:5S over the structure. It is proposed to make the opening a public celebration. Cnrliiu Brings Plant's Freight. The Czarina will bring tho freight from San Francisco this week that the M. F. Plant was to bring. No definite information has been receiv ed yet as to what vessel will be put, on the run to take care of tho pas senger business and probably no de cision will be reached until tho M. F. Plant Is plnccd on the dry dock at 'Frisco and the full extent of her damages determined. Tho Plnnt will reach 'Frisco tonight or tomor row, It is expected, In tow of the Columbia. NORTH BEND NEWS Mrs. Mary Elrod of Marshfield, was a North Bend visitor on Sundny. Mr. and Mrs. W. Duobner of Marshfield, attended tho dedication exercise on Monday. Tho schooner Advent has finished loading his cargo and will sail for San Francisco today. Miss Minnie Peterson and sister, of North Inlet, were tho guests yes terday of Mrs. John Freeland. Miss Henrietta Colver underwent an operation for her eye at the gen eral hospital In Mnrslfileld. Mrs. Lyman Noble and Mrs. E. O'Conncll of Marshfield, attended the dedication exercises on Monday. The Hedondo came down from Porter's mill and will finish taking on her cargo of lumber at North Bend. The Ladles' Aid of tho Presby terian church, will meet this after noon at tho home of Sirs. Hailley, on Sherman avenue. Mrs. Chas. Doano and son, Clifford, and Mrs. M. McGulro and baby, of South Marshfield, were down to the cornerstone laying on Monday. Mr. and Mrs. G. E. Mickey, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Oleson, Melvln Mickey and Mr. Miller formed a picnic party that spent Sunday at tho Sand hills. Edgar Simpson, who has spent several weeks visiting tho Simpson Lumber Company at North Bend, loft Monday on tho tug Columbia for his homo In San Francisco. Misses Nellie and Mildred Doylo came tip Sunday from Wedderburn and were tho guests of their sister, Mrs. Ed. Mather. They left on tho Alliance Monday for Portland. Tho schooner Echo, which hns been undergoing repairs for somo tlmo at old North Bend, was towed to tho Porter Mill last evening where she will take on a cargo of lumber. Mrs. E. R. Hodson and children, of South Coos River, who have been tho guests of Mrs. Hudson's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert McCann, tho past fow days, will return to their homo this afternoon. Wo have heard of. others In this vicinity and at Co qulllo and Myrtle Point who are growing English walnuts In largo quantities and tho fruit Is first class. Tho launching of two ocean going tugboats from ono ship yard in less than a week Is an event that docs not often occur, but such was tho Important ovonts at Price's shipyard In Bandon during the last week. Tho first ono Ho bo launched was tho Kllkyam, on Saturday. This boat belongs to the Coquille Mill and Tug Company, and will bo used In this harbor. She will bo towed to San. Francisco. Tho other boat, tho Gleaner was launched Thursday and will also bo taken to San Francis co and returned to Gardiner where sho will do service on the Umpqua River. Tho Klikyam is 9G feet long- and 22 foot wide, while tho Gleaner is 100 feot long and 22 feet six Inches wide. Overdoing n Good Thing.
