TEAMSTERS' LICENSE IS POSTPONED AGAIN City Council Decides Not to Lory Tax 1 On Vehicles For a Time at Least Many Discuss It. The ordinance requiring teamsters and owners of all vehicles used on tho streets of Marshfleld to pay a license was laid on the table last evening with tho understanding that jio attempt would be made to pass t before tho first of tho year at least. It may bo laid over until next spring. A largo number of team and vehicle ownors were present and expressed their views on the plan. John Bear and Mr. Malloy were In favor of imposing a high license, re quiring It to be paid for a year In advance They said that regular team owners in Marshfleld should bo protected as they pay taxes here. They claimed that during tho good months, transient teamsters come in hero and cut prices on teaming so that the permanent residents cannot make any money. Chas Doane said that it wasn't right to make team sters and working men pay a special tax llko Is proposed by a teamsters' ordinance. Ho said that if a team sters' licenso was Imposed, it was only right that every business man bo compelled to pay a special licenso for being permitted to conduct his business hero. Instead of making tho licenso on vehicles, -'t was proposed to change It to teams but that wasn't satisfac tory. Messrs. Bear and Malloy thought tho Imposing of tho license should bo delayed for a time at least as during tho rainy season which will soon begin, there will bo no transient teamsters to bo guarded against. Sealed proposals will be received by the Finance Committee of the Common Council of tho City of Marshfleld, Coos County, Oregon, at tho office of the Recorder of said city, in the City Hall of said city, until 4 o'clock p. m Tuesday, Oc tober 31st, 1908, for $16,023.87 street Improvement bonds of the City of Marshfleld In denominations not exceeding $500, bearing Inter est at tho rate of six per cent per annum, payable semi-annually; each bond to bo dated November 2d, 1908, payable ten year3 from the date thereof; provided that the right i3 reserved to take up and cancel any of such bonds, upon tho payment of the face value thereof, within accrued interest to the date of payment at any semi-annual In terest payment period at or after one year from tho date of such bond or bonds, by giving thirty days pub lished notice.
