Entertains at Dance. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Mahaffy entertained a number of friends at their North Coos River home Wednesday evening, at a dancing party.' A very pleasant evening wns spent. The event was in honor of Miss May Gallagher who has been visiting at tho Mahaffy home. Killed Panther. Ray Bowron, on his father's ranch at Ten Mile, two days ago, shot a panther, being the fourth during this year. Also tho young man has to his belt of warlike trophies two wild cats on the same day that were destructive to tho belt of sheep. In tho above catch Ray was materially aided by his intelli gent dogs. Leave Creditors Behind. Messrs. RIchoker and Barnes, who havo been conducting tho Richeker-Barnes Man ufacturing Company on North Front street, sold their business the day before yesterday and left town tho same night. A number of creditors havo beon looking for them yesterday and today but have found little en couragement on being able to realize on their claims. "Will Hnvo Grand Jury. Sheriff W. W. Gage was over from Coquillo today attending to some preliminary work before the opening of court to morrow. He stated that Judge Ha milton has called for a special grand Jury to take up a number of criminal matters referred to It by tho justlco courts of tho county. Nearly all of tho attorneys on the Bay will go to Coquille tomorrow to attend tho opening of the September term ot circuit court by Judge Hamilton. Tho Jury will not bo present until Mon day morning, Friday and Saturday being devoted to hearing motions and demurrers.
