Miss Tiny Roberts has signed a contract to teach a six-months term of school on Halls Creek, beginning next Monday. C. Roberts is removing partitions In his building and thus enlarging his store room. He expects to add a line of groceries and dry goods to his stock of merchandise. The will of the late J. W. Sears was admitted to probate and proven before County Judge Hall Wednes day, and the appraisement of the estate was set for next Tuesday. R. B. Dement is wearing one of his hands in a sling. He was kicked by a horse, and it is probable that the bones of one of his fingers was broken by the blow while several others wero badly crushed. Rev. H. C. Preston received the sad news this week that one of his sons had died of typhoid fever. The young man was on his way west to loin his father, and had stopped on the road for a few days' work when he was stricken with typhoid fever and died. Property owners of South Fourth 3treet are endeavoring to secure a 3ldowalk on the westslde of the street, which will afford better con veniences for the people in that part of town. Meanwhile they and other property owners would like to see the intersections built in the walk on the east side of the same thor oughfare. Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Endicott were given a pleasant surprise by their children last Saturday when a large company of relatives and friends came In on them and helped celebrate their twenty-fifth or silver wedding anniversary. Fifty invitations were Issued, the guests assembling at the home of J. J. Endicott and proceed ing to the J. M. Endicott home in a body. During the evening refresh ments of ice cream and cake were 3erved, and the event was thoroughly enjoyed by all present. Many pret ty and useful gifts in silver were re ceived by the honored couple. Mr. and Mrs. Endicott were married at Bloomlngton, Nebr., August 29, 1883, Mrs. Endlcott's maiden name being Mary Kitchell. NOTICE TO CONTRACTORS. A sample of the mineral water that comes from a spring on the Mrs. Archer place, east of town, was sent to the drug firm of Clarke, Wood ward & Co., at Portland recently for analysis, and they report that the water undoubtedly has medicinal properties. The test made shows that It contains bicarbonate of cal cium, bicarbonate of magnesium, silica, alumina, chloride of sodium, sulphates and a slight trace of or ganic matter.
