A dlspntch from Teheran reported from Tabriz that Satar Khan inflicted a decisive defeat on the troops of the Shah In which the government lost 800 in killed and wounded. Civil war is raging anew In the Tabriz province. No details of tho fighting is ob tainable. In addition to the terrific loss of life and property occasioned by tho . two armies, organized bands of rob- tiers arc looting tho country, their trail being marked by blood and ' ashes. MAY STRIKE IN WYOMING. Operators and Union Unable to Reach Agreement. (By Associated Press.) BUTTE, Aug. 31. It is stated that representatives of the coal operators and the union men employed in their mines In Wyoming are unable to reach an agreement and the miners will bo ordered to strlko at G o'clock tonight. The only prospect of settle ment lies in President Lewis of the United Mine Workers, who has made no reply to a telegram from the operators charging tho miners with broken faith and asking for further consideration before the strike is r called. 1 -, . Minis ter Wu said he, had not heard that he was to be recalled, but smiled and added that he did not care if he was. Bishop Caldwell of tho Philadelphia Diocese of tho African Methodist Episcopal Zlon church, comprising Illinois, Ken tucky and other parts, gave out an Interview at the Republican, head quarters today saying that the voters of his race are supporting the Repub lican presidential nominee because of the belief that the salvation of tjlje race and the country in general de pends upon such action. He added that the colored race has nothing to hope for from the Democratic party; Bishop Grant of the African Zlon church diocese at Kansas City, which comprises all states west of the Mis sissippi, is said to bo in harmony with Caldwell's views. (By Associated Press.) SEATTLE, Wash., Sept. 1. A bigamist by his own confession when brought face to face last night with his first wife, Mrs. Cora. Johnston, whom ho deserted in Omaha in 1903, and, to whom he returned after the death of his second wife at Nome, Lee A. Johnston, charged with the murder of his second wife, Belle Gilchrist, whose body he dismember ed and cremated, wept bitterly and exclaimed between sobs that he would resign himself to his fate. So fine a net of evidence Is woven around him that Johnston is amazed and dumbfounded and plainly shows that ho believed himself fighting against fate.
