Council Tonight. The Marshfleld I city council will meet tonight to j ' award the contracts for several street J improvements. Other matters will ? also be brought up. Mrs. Millis Entertains. Mrs. C. J. MRUs entertained a party of sixteen on a launch ride and at a picnic at Charleston Bay Saturday. The trip down and back was made in "The Beaver." The usual picnic festivities were enjoyed. Celebrates Birthday. Saturday was Clifford Deane's sixteenth birth day and in the evening a number of friends of the family dropped In on them at the diaries Deane home on South Broadway. Stafford have been named as the appraisers to determine the value of the stock of the Bonbonierre candy company which closed Its doors a few weeks ago. The store Is located In the Coos building on 'A' street. Judge C. A. Sehlbrede, referee in bankruptcy, has named H. W. Painter as trustee for O. B. Frye, the proprietor, who has entered bankruptcy. CHANDLER has issued invitations for a card party at the Chandler bungalow on South Coos River this afternoon. MRS. ARRINGTON and her friend, Mrs. Huffman of Merced, Cal., were week end guests at the Chandler bungalow on Coos River. SYDNEY BRYANT CLARKE has re turned from Coos River after spending a month with his friend, Wesley A. Seaman at "The t Or chard." MRS. THOMPSON of Ten Mile, who teaches the Big Creek school, pass ed through Marshfleld en route to Myrtle Point to attend the teach ers Institute. MRS. TOM HARVEY and her sister, Miss Ruvh Dean and Miss Nell left today on the Alliance for Grants Pass. Miss Dean has been visit ing the Harveys for some time. C. C. GOING and wife, loft today on the Alliance for Portland to be gone till September 1. They will visit friends and relatives while in tho city, and Mr. Going will select tho fall stock for the Arm of Going & Harvey. H. FLANAGAN returned today from a big deer hunt In which he, Dr. E. E. Straw nnd J. W. Flana gan, participated in under the guidance of Frank Rogers at tho forks of Coos river yesterday. He didn't get any deer but J. W. Fla nagan claims he got two. MRS. C. E. BAYARD of Tho Dalles, Ore., arrived on Alliance for a vacation in Coos Bay's cool and de lightful climate. She says tho heat has been most Intense in east ern Oregon and this change Is most acceptable. She comes to visit her brother Judge Watklns at The Cedars. MISSES PEARL and RUBY WAT KINS have returned from a fort night's visit up Coog RJver, at the homes of Rov. Mr. Smith and Mrs. Ferguson. In tho character pf Corallo In this play, Miss Harper has won much fame. It gives her every opportunity to display her talents as an emotional actress and to display some of her beautiful gowns. "RED LIGHT" DISTRICT MUST LEAVE THE CITY District Attorney Serves Notice On Proprietors to "Move On. Notice has been served on tho proprietors of the houses In Marsh field's "Red Light" district along tho plank road on north Front street, that they must move outside tho city limits by September 14. It Is stated that the notices were served in ac cordance with instructions from tho district attorney. Tho removal ot the houses beyong the city limits will not place them beyond the pale ot prosecution but will place them under the surveillance of Sheriff W. W. Gage instead of the local police force. Bedilllon has secured three new play ers In order to laud tho penant ot the Coos county baseball league for Bandon. A new catcher, short-stop and a fielder are said to have been added. Peralto of Coqullle, has been catching for Bandon recently. Tho new Bandon players are to be tried out In Marshfleld Sunday. A report that Bandon wouldn't be over Sunday proved to bo unfounded. Members of the Bandon team said that they would be here sure in order to lineup to wrest the two last games of tho season from Coqullle.
