The Eureka reached Coos Bay Saturday from Portland and sailed yesterday for Eureka. The Homer en route from Frisco to Portland stopped here yes terday to unload and take on some freight. No Deal Made. J. II. Flanagan states the reports concerning a sale of the Coos Bay Water Company are incorrect. Various parties have looked the plant over during the past year or so with a view of making an offer for it. Enterprise In. The Enterprise came in yesterday from Rogue River and left for there again this morn ing. The freight business between hero and Wedderburn has been brisk the past ten days on account of the Marchmont races- which start there today. Gets Verdict. In a suit Involving $2.00, F. W. Rleder secured a ver dict for that amount Jigalnst the United Stores Company In Justice Pennock's court. The cost of the litigation which amounts to a dozen times the sum Involved were taxed to the defendants. Mother Is Dead. Mrs. Brlttaln, who has been demonstrating the use of "Mapleine," at North Bend nnd Marshfield, received a telegram from Seattle Saturday night stating that her mother had suddenly died at Aberdeen Washington. Secretary Walter Lyon of tho Commercial Club, has received a letter from Major Mclndoo stating that tho gov ernment dredge probably won't reach Coos Bay until about September 1, owing to unexpected delays in In stalling some machinery and equip ment. Micolll, secretary of tho Southern Oregon District Fair Association, ox- Steamship Arrives Early Today After Good Voyage Down Despite Heavy Fog. The Alliance arrived in Coos Bay from Portland at G o'clock this morn ing after a pleasant voyage dpwn. She had a large passenger list and a good cargo of freight. A heavy fog made It difficult for Capt. Olson to come down the Bay this morning but ho did In good shape. The Al liance will sail for Portland at noon tomorrow. Mr. and Mrs. Rosslter returned to their home In the east today. Joseph Lnblanc, who Is conduct ing a wholesale liquor house In this city, was arrested by Marshal Ho berg Tuesday for selling liquors In less quantities than a gallon. He was taken before Recorder Kolley who assessed him $50 which he paid. There was rumor In this city thla week of tho death of Herb Sweet who fell from a bridge and broke his neck. Sweet was employed on. the bridge crew for several months and "left this city for Washlngtoa In April. No particulars could ho secured, but It Is thought that, tho accident occurred In Washington. Erect Temporary School. ; Di rector J. D. McNeal of tho Bunker Hill-Bay Park School district, stated today that the board had decided to erect, a temporary; school building for the coming winter.
