Tho 2OJIVEL0US FORESIGHT OF THE FATHERS of s' country in framing tho constitution of tho United States is shown by tho fact that, in spito of all tho changes which have occurred in industrial and economic conditions, in spito of tho unexpected expan sions of tho country, tho constitution lias been found sufficiently flexiblo TO MEET EVERY EMERGENCY WHICH HAS i'ARISEN. t LET US REMEMBER THIS, FOR THE DANGER OF TODAY IS THAT THE AMERICAN PEOPLE MAY BE LULLED INTO A FALSE SECURITY AND, YIELDING TO THE DEMANDS OF SELFISH IN TERESTS, PERMIT THE BREAKING DOWN OF CONSTITUTIONAL PROVISIONS, UNDER WHICH THE AMERICAN PEOPLE HAVE AT TAINED THIS WONDERFUL DEGREE OF MATERIAL PROSPERITY ,AND HAVE YET MAINTAINED THE INDIVIDUAL LIBERTY OF THE CITIZEN. I Our government is divided into three separate and distinct co-ordi-inato branches tho legislative, tho executive and tho judicial. DAN GER "WILL SURELY COME TO THIS REPUBLIC when any of theso departments of government attempts in tho slightest degree to rJTSURP THE FUNCTIONS of tho other, and, while now and then It may bo that a court of tho land in construing tho constitution may inollify a section of it, I havo tho faith to feci that the people of tho 'country will riso abovo tho fallibility of judicial tribunals and AS SERT AND PRESERVE THEIR OWN RIGHTS. ! OUR DUTY IS NOT TO CRITICISE THE EXECUTIVE, THE LEG ISLATURE OR THE JUDICIARY. OUR DUTY IS TO RECOGNIZE THE MAJESTY OF THE LAW WHEN ENACTED BY THE LEGISLA TURE, TO ABIDE BY AND WITH THE HONEST EXECUTION AND ADMINISTRATION OF THE LAWS WHEN SO ENACTED AND TO 'RESPECT, EVEN THOUGH WRONG, THE OPINIONS OF THE COURTS OF THE LAND, BECAUSE WHEN RESPECT FOR THESE INSTITU- ,TIONS 18 GONE THEN THE VERY FRAMEWORK OF OUR GOV ERNMENT IS BOUND TO CRUMBLE AND DECAY.
