BENNETT SW ANTON left this morning in company with her hus band for Portland. Mr. Swanton is en route to London, but Mrs. Swanton will return to Coos Bay after a short visit in tho northern, cities. J. D. GOSS left on tho Breakwator for Portland today to attend tho Oregon State Democratic Conven tion, Juno 9, to select delegates to the National Democratic Conven tion. Mr. Goss Is a member of the Democratic State Central Com mittee. MRS. BURMEISTER of North Bend, has gone to Portland for a week. Owing to an error, It was stated that Dr. Burmelster had also gone. Dr. Burmelster found it impossible to leave North Bend at present and so did not accompany his wlfo on her northern trip. DR. RICHARDSON, who has been In New York taking a postgraduate course, Is expected to reach Marsh field within a few days. Mrs. Ri chardson and Mrs. E. K. Jones who went to Portland to meet him and to visit friends for a short time will probably return hero with him. POLITICAL ANNOUNCEMENTS. To the Voters of Coos and Curry Counties: As a candidate for joint senator, I have been asked to make a public statement. Of myself personally, I shall say nothing as I have lived in Coos coun ty for tho past fourteen years, and during that time have actively en gaged in many occupations and enter terpiises, including coal mining, log ging, road building and general con tracting, so that I have come in con tact with most of tho active elements in tho county development, .and my character, dealings and reputation are well known to many and eaBlly ascertained by all. As to my genera qualifications for tho office, I leave tho public to judge, but that there may bo no misunderstanding of my position, I make this public announ cement that I havo signed Statement No. 1, and If elected shall vote for the people's choice for United States senator.
