The probability that the next Dis trict Fair for the district which in cludes Coos County will be held at JMarthflcUl, suggested to one of the speakers the designation of the fair as "The Coal Palace." He thought the chance to advertise Coos Bay was extraordinary if the fair should be held, becauso Coos County had a single resource which was a univer sal character and which was to bo found In no other county of the state than this. He proposed a coal pal ace or exhibit. The palace does not need to be a large one, although the larger It Is the better it would bo, and It might be the Initial palace, lowover small at first, which would in some future exhibitions be a large one. Sioux City, Iowa, became fam ous In former years for its corn pal ace, and since the city of Mitchell, South Dakota, a city almost the slzo of Mnrshfleld has held a corn palace annually. St. Paul used to have its Jco palace. There Is no doubt that a good sub stantial structure can be made which will stand for the purposes of a great exhibition. The belief fo power in evil is a be lief in the power to harm jourself and to harm others, to lie, to steal, to murder, to break all the command ments of God. That this belief should prevail is possible only because the truth of being is not clearly under stood. That it is a mistaken belief ls easily seen from Its own contra dictory character power. This belief is beinz raiildlv dispelled by Christian Science, and mankind is awakening to the uni versal dominion of good, the birth right of the sons and daughters of God. Properly advertised all Coos County would becomo very iamous as tho only coal producer south of Paget Sound. It would bo sublime to liavo King Coal and Queen Gravensteln head tho liroci-j ion to tho fair on tho open ing day. Tho idea is a splendid one and does not detract troni tho value of tho races, fruit, farm, dairy and timber exhibits, or tho exhibits of sholl ilsh, aholls, and other forms of flsh, which will help to educate tho people of Oregon on tho subject of what Coos Bay on produce. This fair has come to Coos County and to Marshflold, if tho peoplo want it, on tho principle of natural selection. It comes as a corpillary of tho successful fruit ex hibit of last fall when Coos County woko up surprised that thero was a ami shining in tho world. It would lie n erlmo to turn down tho oppor tunity. Such opportunities are vital In turning the scale toward or against a locality. This fair and Coal Palaco In Marshileld will help to mako the beaten path to Coos Bay unchangea lilo and to flx a habit of tho people in not only coining to Coos Bay but in thinking of Coos Hay as tho natur al placo to couio to. Coos Buy busi 'ness men would be no business mon it they failed to grasp this chance, "but happily. Coos Hay business mon aro not built on tho plan which lets any such opportunity escape. That evil is real or has pow er Is an unthinkable proposition un less wo absolutely deny tho infinitude of God, good. No form of evil can do tho work of truth, or have power or entjly; ovil can do nothing but de stroy itself. If evil with its train of sin, sickness, and death could have power, God, good would bo dethroned would not bo omnipotent. Such a proposition must bo rejected by every , christian, by every monotheist. Evil Is no moi'o real, becuuso It seems to bo real, than a wicked or painful dream in sleep is real.
