IMPORTANT NOTICE TO TIMES READERS Tho regular carrier boys of Tho Times are not permitted to sell pa pers to patrons. The reason for this Is that tho carriers aro given only a sufficient number of papers to sup ply regular subscribers and when pa pers are sold it Impairs tho service as regular subscribers aro likely to bo missed. There is no desire to be arbitrary, but it is absolutely neces sary to have a fixed system in a daily newspaper office and this Is ono of the features that must bo ob served. Three papers a week purchased of boys would, pay for practically thd ontlro subscription and givo readers apape,r every day. The following enthusiastic letter has been received from a man who believes in Coos Bay and is willing to back his judgment with cash. It is interesting" to know that after visiting nearly every city on the Pacific coast he has decided that Coos Bay is the best of all. His letter is well worth reading. Hero It is: Hood River, Oregon, February 1, 1908. Editor Times: I'havo been for over seven months traveling down the coast and through California. I bought be tween $4,000 and $5,000 worth of property In Coos Bay last spring which I still have and I expect to come to Coos Bay In the spring to make my home. I have been study ing Coos Bay for a long time and I have been convinced of ono thing for a long time which is this: That the rivalry between tho towns should not exist and that they should all unite In one town. Call it Coos Bay and and then for all tho papers and ad vertising matter to BOOST COOS BAY and not Marshfield or North Bend or Empire. When you talk of enterprises, sawmills or manufactur ing being located say they are lo cating on Coos Bay and that will tell It all. What you want is to put Coos Bay forward and not mix It up with the different towns. Get the people to come to Coos Bay and then whc.i they come don't be afraid for tlu.y will look Coos Bay all over and buy where they wish, no matter where, for I am positive in my own mini that Marshfield, North Bend ana Empire will be connected in tho next ten years. I expect to put my money in Coos Bay. I have talked and boost ed for Coos Bay and what will bene fit me will benefit every man, woman and child on Coos Bay. Let us all put our shoulder to tho wheel and lift for Coos Bay, not any special town and we will soon have ono of tho best towns on the Pacific coast. Respectfully, W. O. ASH. See the largest lino of pretty and comic valentines in the city at tho Coos Bay Cash Storo. ThellHabit of Dressing Well grows on a man like tho booze habit, but its consequences, In stead of being disastrous aro delightful, and socially as well as morally, improving. Come and form a good habit I will make a suit myself or send for It. A full lino of samples from tho best houses In tho country. Have your measure taken by an export tailor. Thursday night in the Marshfield Chamber of Commerce rooms there will be a special called meeting and all those who are interested in tho securing of tho district fair for C003 county aro urged to be In attendance. Lane county felt so confident of se curing the district fair that it mado expenditures of $40,000 in prepara tion. Now that the fair has gone to Coos, the commissioners and wealthy farmers of Lano county, will mako every effort to Induce Coos County to relinquish it. It is thought the ef forts of Lane county will bo futllo but it is the desire now to see just how much Interest Is taken In this important concession, and what tho people of Coos county aro willing to do. Tho following dispatch from Roseburg to tho Portland Telegram Is self-explanatory: "At the annual meeting hero yes terday of the Second Southern Ore gon District Agricultural Society, Coos county, by a vote of 5 to 3, so cured the privilege of holding the dis trict fair this year. Tho minority vote was cast for Lane county, which had confidently expected to securo the fair. "Lano county, however, will make overtures to get Coos county to re linquish its privilege. Its commis sioners have obtainod an option on 105 acres of land for the fair site near Eugene and have made numer ous other preparations for a fair, In volving in all an expenditure of about $40,000. Under such circum stances they do not like to let tho fair go to Coos county." New York. Ho is specializing on tho eye, nose, ear and throat. Whore Myrtlo street abuts tho Second street grade thero Is a sheor fall of sovoral feet. Tho recent rains havo rendered tho clay ombankmont very soft, and yestorday afternoon when two horses strayed from tho Second street high way at Myrtlo street's Intersection, their weight served to sond them down through tho dirt as expeditious ly as though it wero a snowbank. It was at tho psychological moment just as the oar tips of tho steeds wero waving farowoll to tho sunshlno that Marshal Cartor jumped In tho broaoh, and, with tho assistance of ropos and muscle pullod them back to solid torra Anna.
