An extension of , sixty feet will also be made in tho building shortly which .will make tho structure tho largest In southern Oregon. Breakwater Is Strengthened. Repairs to tho damaged port bow of the Breakwater, which .suffered an accident whllo on a recent trio over the bar, liavo been made in a man ner which-wlll prevent a repetition of a Bimilar accident. Where her bulwarks were crushed In by the weight of the big' wave she has been strengthened with huge braces which will bo impossible to break. Very Severe AVJntcr Captain Dave Holden.of tho Gasco, which re cently made avtrlp along tho beach to the Umpqua, states that the present season has been tho most severe on tho water for a number of years, judging from the condition of tho sand seawall along the beach. He says the latter iias been washed away Jn huge lengths where it has stood tho storms of years. The wreck of tho Sacramento has beon washed away inland from where , it stood for several years, and tho un usual violence of the waves has af fected the whole beach. a , .1 I . Child Will Recover. Every indi cation points toward the recovery of tho little girl of Mrs. Delia Robinson, which was injured by a bad fall last Sunday and whoso recovery was not expected. Ever since a very delicate operation was performed on the child's head by Dr. Houseworth, the little one has shown signs of Im provement and Is expected to become well again. Smith, being present at the end. Tho deceased had long been a sufferer from dropsy and was being brought homo before his final hour might como. Tho body has boon -taken to Gardiner for interment. Rounding Up Dogs Marshal Car tor hns taken in $125 in taxes dur- ing tho past two or three days for dog taxes. Ho has rounded up most of tho dogs in the business section of tho city and bolieves there will bo over $200 In dog taxes this year com pared with $150 last year. Dogs which apparently havo no owners aro taken to tho pound, and if not called for in twenty-four hours and tho tax paid, they nro painlessly disposed of.
