SCHINISTER, of Gardiner, la a , pleasant visitor to friends in tho (Ni- An Open Letter To The People of Coos Bay On this, the final day of our great removal sale, we desire to have a little personal chat with the people of the community who have by their patronage and kindly co-operation made this ' one of the largest and most successful sales ever held on the bay. We think we may be pardoned for the pride we feel in this evi- "v dence of your confidence which it shall ever be our effort to merit and enjoy, We feel certain that you found all our public announcements true to the letter. We had the goods and made the prices. We desired to clean out our entire line of fall and winter goods so that it would not be necessary to transfer any of them to our new quarters. In this we have been successful and you have profited by the transaction. In this respect it may be said to be mutually satisfactory' There is something more than an exchange of goods for money when you deal at this store. Back of every transaction is the desire that the customer shall be satisfied and no trade is thought to be completed until this result has been achieved. This was the spirit in which this successful sale was inaugurated and conducted. That it was appreciated is shown by the record. As predicted in our announcement last night this was an other great big day and promises to close as a record breaker, It is the most important thing in the 'world. Wealth, honor nnd influence nro empty baubles without this requisite. When you arc sick you consult n doctor but that is only the preliminary attention required Your Druggist Is just us important as your physician. Unless his prescription Is prepared in the evnet proportion he has specified and unless the ingredients arc pure and fresh it cannot produce the results you are expecting. The Prescription Department Is an important branch of our business. It re quires care, attention, skill and a .specific knowledge of modern idinrnmcy. AVc have the best .schooling and practical experience and can safely and honestly assure j on the best possible scrvice. AVe have a system of recording and checking which absolutely prevents mistakes. These are points which ought to interest you occasionally. Bring your nc.vt prescription here and make us prove what wo promise. I y city today. W. H. DOHLEN la reported very 111 at his home with a severe attack of the grip. G. A. He is the enterprising business manager of the Young's Musical Comedy Com pany, W. R. Dalley, who at that time, and in fact at the present, is much better known as "Bill Dalley. Upon being Interrogated last evening on tho matter he said: "Yes, whatever honor there may be for having created this young man's career, aside from the punches lid received, I am credited with it. It was away back in 1887 when I was devoting my time evcluslvely to newspaper work and made a specialty of pugilism, writing under the nom do plume of "D. A. Lee," that I saw Corbett at the Olympic Club and realized tho possibilities of his being the future king of tho arena. Wo had a verbal understanding and I commenced boosting. "At first all the other authorities in my line scoffed at the idea and I was the butt for many a joke. Pin ally I published a special card and circulated it all over tho United States. One of these fell into tho hands of Bud Renaud of New Or leans, who, I am told, was then In conversation with Jno. Donaldson. Ronaud asked tho latter If Corbett was any good, and on being informed that ho was, Renaud sent mo an of fer of a match with Kllraln, which I arranged for Corbett. "Corbett then went to New Orleans for this fight, but as I was on a San Francisco newspaper I did not want to leave 'Frisco and go with him. Ho won his fight and then began to get somo notoriety. I got a similar bout for Corbett with Jack McCaf ferty and then Corbett went to Now York and from that tlmo on his his tory Is well known among sporting men." B. A.
