Mr. Flanagan ad vertises this morning for bids for tho work, and the specifications may be found at his office. Tho plans call for a draw bridge, and navigation will not be Interfered with to any material extent by its building. Tho traffic upon tho Inlet is not so very heavy and the necessity for such a crossing and tho addi tional roadway which it will Initiate for tho people living In Bun ker Hill, Flagstaff, Bay Park" and Milllngton will overshadow any in convenience to traffic. The bridge will be built on Pennsylvania avenue and will give a practically level grade through Bunker Hill addition to the railroad, along the right of way to Shingle House slough (this is not an inlet) where It will connect with tho county road, thus shorten ing the distance to that point a mile and a half, besides cutting out some very heavy graaes. "Soil nnd Stand Rack of the Sale!" The old store-slogan, "Sell and forget It!" has almost entirely van lshcl from the -business world. To follow it nowadays would mean quick store-suicide. The modern store-spirit reverses the order com pletely. "Sell and stand back of it!" Is the new creed. And it means security to the buyer. It means con fidence. It makes it "safe" to go shopping. It contributes to peace of mind. It makes, store-ads. interest ing and it makes them important. Temperate, well considered state ments are the rule In present-day ad vertising. It would be folly indeed for a merchant to pay good money for newspaper space In which to cheapen and be-little his- store and that is what he would do if ho should descend to simple buncombe and recklessness of statement. Look over the ads. today. You will decide that while they contain as much enthusiasm as ever, they are more temperate In claims and state ments than formerly. ' rtr fi ,5fc.
