"Soil nnd Stand Rack of the Sale!"
The old store-slogan, "Sell and
forget It!" has almost entirely van
lshcl from the -business world. To
follow it nowadays would mean
quick store-suicide. The modern
store-spirit reverses the order com
pletely. "Sell and stand back of
it!" Is the new creed. And it means
security to the buyer. It means con
fidence. It makes it "safe" to go
shopping. It contributes to peace of
mind. It makes, store-ads. interest
ing and it makes them important.
Temperate, well considered state
ments are the rule In present-day ad
vertising. It would be folly indeed
for a merchant to pay good money
for newspaper space In which to
cheapen and be-little his- store and
that is what he would do if ho should
descend to simple buncombe and
recklessness of statement.
Look over the ads. today. You
will decide that while they contain
as much enthusiasm as ever, they are
more temperate In claims and state
ments than formerly. '
