G Irwin brought in some fine sprc linens of Evergreen. broom-corn Monday,, grown on his. ranch Southeast of town. The broom corn is well matured, the straw bring unusually long, and the sam ples which Mr. Irwin is displacing show the' possibilities of this section in that di rcction. The seed from which the broom corn was grown was secured in Massa chusetts. John Lockard m the arrangements completed for building a cottage on his Jots adjoining the residence ol Dr Snook. The lumber will be hauled nt once and he expects to have the cottage completed this Fall. He is building it as an invest ment nnd will rent the cottage'. Mr. Lockard hns n very attractive building site for his cottage, which will be 24x30 feet in dimensions. Smith & Williams, with their threshing outfit, passed through, town Monday1 on their way to Agency Plains They have ! a number of fields on the plains to tlirrsb, which they could not reach until they had completed their engagements South of this place, nnd' they were delayed for n week or mote by the breaking of sortij! part of their machinery early in the sea? nn. Mr, Springer rind family have Just relumed from a camping trip in the mountains. They were camp cd near the huckleberry patches, and brought back with ' them all the berries they wanted. ' The new drilling outfit for the Madras pi.) & Gas Co., has artived at Shaniko, And as soon as it can be hauled out, ill be set up nnd work resumed at the well which the company is drilling on the West slope of Grizzly mountain.
