The new battleship MaiiiCj built by the Cramps to replace the ill-fated Maine, return ed to this city after a satisfactory builder's trial at sea. The new war vessel proved herself to be a very speedy ship for her size, she averaging 18.29 knots an hour over a measured course. Her contract called for a speed of 18 knots. In a preliminary run last night the Maine, for 30 minutes, ran at the rate of 19.95 knots an hour, an extraor dinary speed for a vessel of her displacement. !s& When the young mother is allowed to get up for her first meal, even though she takes it alone, it seems nd to her to take this one step nearer the family circle, and she counts the days un til her strenxth will le fully restoied.
